Victories

"They (extreme conservatives) see Barack Obama as the sum of their worst fears. Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity like to call the president and Nancy Pelosi and their policies "socialist." They beat the drum on gay marriage, hoping that this will give the right a needed shot in the arm (and not recognizing that getting gays to marry is actually a victory against promiscuity and a victory for family values in a strange way)."

From THIS article by John Feehery on CNN.com

The part in the paragraph that is bolded is the really interesting section. I wonder if that were further explained and promoted it would bring some more understanding.

Bear is much more attractive

I hope by now you are all aware that Will Ferrell is appearing on an episode of Man Vs. Wild. They went to Sweden and ate reindeer eyes. Gross. I'm also going to ignore the fact that this is partly done to promote Ferrell upcoming Land of the Lost.

There's a bunch of articles about it. Here's one.

After much speculation about the nature of the relationship involving Slumdog Millionaire stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, Patel's mother Anita has confirmed to a British newspaper that the pair are very much a couple.

Twitter with your brain waves.

This is Twitter's fail whale. When the site goes down they put up this friendly fellow to let you know.

But that's not nearly as interesting as THIS!

"Brain-Twitter project offers hope to paralyzed patients."

"Wilson, a doctoral student in biomedical engineering, was confirming an announcement he had made two weeks earlier -- his lab had developed a way to post messages on Twitter using electrical impulses generated by thought.
That's right, no keyboards, just a red cap fitted with electrodes that monitor brain activity, hooked up to a computer flashing letters on a screen. Wilson sent the messages by concentrating on the letters he wanted to "type," then focusing on the word "twit" at the bottom of the screen to post the message.
The development could be a lifeline for people with "locked-in syndrome" -- whose brains function normally but who cannot speak or move because of injury or disease."

I think that's pretty impressive, don't you?

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton (Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride...you know) is remaking Alice in Wonderland for Disney and it's going to be 3-D IMAX. Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter and Alan Rickman (Snape!!) is the Caterpillar while Anne Hathaway is the White Queen with Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen/ Queen of Hearts. Crispin Glover, of Back to the Future fame, is playing the Knave of Hearts. I'm not entirely sure what a Knave is....

I'm looking forward to it.

...and I will be seeing this (video fixed)

Tiger Mountain Peasant Song - Fleet Foxes Cover

I wish I could just sit around and be able to cover beautiful Fleet Foxes songs with my beautiful voice and beautifully voiced friends who all posess the ability to harmonize.

These girls are Swedish sisters which make up the group First Aid Kit.
The girl on the left, Klara, is only 16 and her sister, Johanna, is 19.

I could look at this website forever

I found a website that will make you stop what you're doing and want to go travel everywhere whether you have the money or not and even if it's entirely illogical at this point in time. The Matador Network has 10 different sections which each have a million interesting articles in them. The website also does a good job of showing off other intriguing stories while you're trying to focus on the one you are reading. Thus forcing you to spend hours go from one to the next while in the back of your mind figuring out how you can leave everything you know and just go travel for a summer or forever.

Some articles that have caught my eye so far...
How to travel by cargo ship
Top 10 places for teaching English
10 Volunteer opportunities for free travel
Best and Worst toilets in the world
