For my birthday this summer I am going to Chicago and it is going to be fantastic! Here are two of the reasons why...

The Taste of Chicago!!!

Plenty of free entertainment is available to amuse you before, during and after your dining experience. Music from internationally known talent such as Stevie Wonder and Bonnie Raitt is at the Petrillo Music Shell. See cooking demonstrations from renowned chefs such as Art Smith."

All the Chicagoans who have been to the Taste talk about it like it's the best thing in the world.

I also just want to explore some neighborhoods and see what there is to find. We might stay in a hostel so as not to worry about coming in and out of someone's house at all hours. Plus maybe we'll meet some random new people. Or if you know of a cheap hotel downtown let me know too.

An Admission

I secretly judge people a little when they talk about Africa like it's one big country. When someone says they're going to live in Africa instead of Ghana or Rwanda or whatever. It just plays into the stereotype a little more that all the countries and all the people are the exactly the same.

If you ever hear me say something about my time there make sure I say Tanzania or Moshi. If I don't, you can let me have it.
